The foster life

We have had OneTooth in foster for a little over week now. He is an absolute gem of a hound! Although he came to us a bit of a “bull in a china shop” he had made an amazing turn around. He is curious and eager to “help” you in whatever you may be doing by sticking his nose in there. He is not afraid of the vaccum cleaner, hair dryers, garage door, lawn mowers, etc. He is very curious, and confident. He eagerly solicits attention from our neighborhood kids at the fence.

As with the previous post, he LOVES tennis balls!! But he has learned to play with other toys in the yard as well. If you throw it, he will chase it! (and most of the time bring it back). He has a very soft mouth in that he sort of licks the treats from your hand, he does not grab them at all. He is not a kisser, but he will stand with his head tucked into your chest fro as long as you choose to scratch his neck and love on him.

He’s been sleeping loose in our room at night and settles quickly onto his own dogbed at night, but sometimes I will see him lying on the floor with his head on the bed of our own hound. I am amazed at this, because my own hound usually does not appreciate such closeness, but OneTooth is such a lovable fellow that he doesn’t mind in the least! OneTooth has no space issues on or off his bed, and has discovered that belly rubs are awesome! He is very tolerant of all handling: tail, ears, teeth, feet, everything. He as been great in the house, crated during the day while we are at work, but loose at in the evenings, weekends and at night with no housebreaking issues.

If you are looking for an active and attentive buddy, this guy is for you! But don’t be fooled, he is just as happy crashing in the den for an evening of watching hockey too!
